Outdoor patio is set up for lounging and having a pre dinner drink. 10 minute walk to the lake or the nice-size town of Ambleside.

    Ambleside is a good location.

Ambleside is a good location. We enjoyed Rydal Mount, a boat cruise and a visit to the waterfall. The public transport network is great, not taking the car was not a problem. We travelled on the bus between Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside with ease. I will definitely visit again, but next time I will research more of the local walks. There is loads to see, but I would like to know where I was heading and where to walk!

We selected Ambleside as it is central for touring the Lake District. It is a pleasant Town with plenty of shops & restaurants. It also has the biggest garden centre I can ever remeber being in. It was pretty busy even outside of a public or school holiday time so booking restaurants is usually necessary.

It was our first visit to Ambleside and we weren’t disappointed. We had a meal at Luigi’s which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I am a fussy eater. The weather was glorious so we had a few drinks in the beer garden at the Royal Oak pub. Ambleside was about a 15minute walk from our accommodation, Windermere Rooms at the Wateredge Inn.

Great location for exploring central Lake District. Lots of interesting shops, bars - even Michelin starred restaurant which was stunning. Lake shore and beaches are lovely - east to hire SUP, canoes, kayak, motor boats.

A very busy place even though it was not peak season.

A very busy place even though it was not peak season. We stayed across the lake from Ambleside and it was much quieter and prettier. Be prepared to pay for parking and toilet access in all public areas in the Lake District and only a credit card is acceptable for payment.

Fantastic little cottage right in the centre of all local amenities. Lots of pubs / restaurants on your doorstep. Everywhere was super dog friendly. Ambleside was a great base for us to explore the Lake District. the cottage was beautifully decorated, lovely and cosy, with a smart tv in both the lounge and bedroom. The hosts were great, brilliant communication and very friendly. Couldn’t recommend more!

It's a dog friendly hotel, with welcoming staff and I felt comfortable as a solo traveller. A great location for walking to Elterwater and next door to Chester's by the River. We were upgraded to a twin room and my dog got to have a sausage for breakfast. It was good to be able to have a meal in The Talbot Bar on the evening without leaving the hotel.

The owners were very friendly and nice people. Location of the guesthouse was the best one could ask for in Ambleside. Bed in the room was very comfortable and also I was very pleased with breakfast options offered. Surely had lovely breakfasts. View from the window next to the bed was amazing ! Like everywhere in the Lake District, the Wateredge seems to be having issues with staff. However, the staff there were all really friendly and worked incredibly hard. The hotel and location were perfect. We plan to return to Wateredge in the near future. Thanks, for a lovely stay. Also, we took our dog and it was very dog friendly.

It was self-catering, so there was no breakfast. The accommodation had everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. The location was great for traveling around the Lake District and it was very convenient to walk in to the village to the pubs and stores.

The room and bed were massive with a nice view overlooking the street café. Expect to pay a little more in the Lake District, but the Ambleside location was a very good hiking/biking base. "English breakfast" was tasty.
